UK: Developer and manager of retirement communities McCarthy Stone has entered a three-year partnership with electric vehicle charger Pod Point.

Pod Point will supply and install electric vehicle home charges at every parking space in upcoming McCarthy Stone developments.

McCarthy Stone has plans to build 60 new projects a year.

The partnership comes as building regulations mandating EV charging points in all new-build properties across England took force in June. All new residential developments must have one 7kW charge point for every residence with a parking space.

Anne Smales, group commercial director at McCarthy Stone said: “We are committed to reducing energy use and carbon emissions in our existing and future estates, and across our business. In Pod Point, we have found a partner who in terms of its reputation and track record, we feel is well placed to support our sustainability goals and to help us deliver great and sustainable places for our customers to live.”

Erik Fairbairn, CEO of Pod Point, added: “McCarthy Stone has an outstanding reputation in the industry and its sustained five-star customer satisfaction status from the Home Builders Federation is testament to that. We were delighted to be selected as their preferred chargepoint supplier.”
