UK: Iconic London music venue the Roundhouse is opening a coworking space for creative young people.
Roundhouse Works will offer collaborative coworking with music production facilities to up to 15,000 people each year, 60 per cent of whom will be drawn from deprived areas.
Courses will be offered to people aged 18 to 30 in music production, performance arts, podcasting and the fundamentals of the music business. The venue will also host talks, events, workshops and training to support a career in the creative industries.
The centre will open on Monday June 19th, with membership starting at £25 a year and coworking packages from £30 per month.
The Roundhouse, which is located in Chalk Farm and has hosted live shows and experimental theatre since the 1960s, raised £8 million to fund the venture, all from private and corporate donations. No money was received from the UK Arts Council or any other government scheme.
