UK: Southwark council has given approval for BTR developer Get Living to complete its £1.5 billion Elephant & Castle redevelopment.
The third and final phase, worth £400 million, will add 959 homes and student accommodations. 507 are BTR homes, of which 165 will be for affordable and social rent. The other 452 units being delivered are PBSA.
Revised plans for Get Living’s West Site will cover London College of Communications’ plot once the school moves locations. That means construction is expected to commence in 2028.
Other plans for the site include a 20,000 square foot cultural venue, using extant parts from the college’s workshop building.
Revisions to the scheme were made to satisfy regulatory changes, including Building Safety Act rules and carbon emission reduction efforts.
The West Site sits next to west of second-phase The Elephant and first-phase Elephant Central. The Elephant will open in phases this year, while Elephant Central has now hit 95 per cent occupancy nearly a decade after it opened.
