£488 million invested in UK PBSA in Q1 2025

UK: CBRE reported that £2.3 billion was invested in the UK’s living sector in Q1 2025.

CBRE’s residential investment volumes report all available data for transactions in the residential spectrum.

Investment in purpose-built student accommodations (PBSA) was down y-o-y from around £520 million while investment in the Build to Rent sector increased by 54 per cent from the previous year.

PBSA transactions of note in Q1 were Greystar’s acquisition of 400 bedrooms across Cardiff and Exeter for £60 million and M&G’s acquisition of a PBSA development in Stratford for £135 million.

CBRE reported that yields in the PBSA sector continued to trend stably between 4.25 per cent and five per cent.
