UK: Legal & General’s David Reid has been named as chair of its committee for the SFR sector.

Reid, managing director of Legal & General’s Suburban Build-to-Rent business, has long been seen as a leading figure in the rapidly growing market for suburban build-to-rent houses and is committed to supporting the sector to deliver high-quality new houses that meet the needs of institutional investors and operators, whilst providing secure, professionally managed housing for families.

The UKAA work “brings together investors and operators of single-family houses with the housebuilders who deliver them, to create mutual understanding and collaboration that can establish long-term partnerships for new home delivery that meets the needs for professionally managed homes”.

The UKAA Single Family Housing committee is also driving engagement with policymakers and local authorities to improve understanding of the quality and value of suburban BTR delivery in providing high quality rental homes that meet local market needs.

The UKAA committee includes representation from the British Property Federation (BPF) and the Home Builders Federation (HBF) to “drive cross-sector collaboration and provide a clear voice to government and policy makers”.

Brendan Geraghty, CEO of UKAA, said: “We are delighted to welcome David Reid as Chair of the UKAA’s new Single Family Housing committee. As the membership association for the institutionally backed UK Build-to-Rent sector, we recognise and fully embrace the importance of single-family rental and look forward to working with David and the committee to represent the interests of those investing in, developing, and operating purpose-built, single-family rental homes.”

Reid added: “Now more than ever, we must deliver diverse residential offerings to better accommodate the broad range of different households that exist in the market. This includes the provision of reliable, high-quality, and long-term single-family rental options. I was thrilled to be asked to be Chair and look forward to working with the committee, in collaboration with investors, developers, and operators, to drive forward and deliver more much-needed quality rental homes.”
