UK: Developer London Square has begun the handover of 465 build-to-rent (BTR) apartments at its Nine Elms development, marking the final phase of the regeneration of one of central London’s largest brownfield sites.
The BTR units are part of a broader mixed-tenure scheme delivering a total of 756 homes, including private for-sale and affordable housing, on the former 14-acre Royal Mail sorting office site.
The BTR offering comprises two buildings ranging from nine to 14 storeys, featuring apartments along with amenities such as co-working spaces, meeting rooms, a gym, cinema room, and a roof terrace.
These homes will be operated by Moda Living, as its first London location.
The private sale component is located in a 23-storey tower designed by Allies and Morrison, which is already occupied.
The top-level duplexes, branded The Luminaries, are scheduled for launch later this year. Meanwhile, PA Housing is expected to take possession of 103 affordable homes by the end of summer.
Located adjacent to the US Embassy, the development overlooks the 2.5-mile Nine Elms linear park, which connects Battersea Power Station to Vauxhall Cross.
This project is the final major residential delivery within the 561-acre Nine Elms regeneration area, which comprises more than 35 development sites.
Adam Lawrence, London Square CEO said: “The regeneration of Nine Elms has redefined this part of the south bank and shows the long-term benefit of effective public/private partnerships.
“We’re proud to help complete this landmark example of placemaking with a development that provides a full eco-system of tenures and supports successful community building.”
