UK: Moda Living has submitted plans for 730 BTR units on the site of a car park in Glasgow.
The company, which already has a development underway at the old Strathclyde Police HQ at Pitt Street in the city centre, is working with developer GRDI Europe on the proposals.
A previous plan for a hotel, retail and F&B units has been redrawn to remove the hotel element and focus on BTR.
The development would include several buildings on the site including a 16-storey block on the north east corner of Elliot Street towards the Clydeside Expressway. On the south-east corner there would be an eight-storey block on Lancefield Quay, increasing to 15 storeys and then to 11 storeys on Lancefield Street.
The application states: “The proposed development was refined to offer a build to rent residential development for the whole site, with associated commercial and leisure uses typically associated with the applicant’s business model. The proposal for a hotel use has been removed, at this stage, based on market testing on this particular use in the current market.”
The site is being used as a privately owned car park and was historically part of the Lancefield Foundry complex, which included boiler works and brass works to support the shipbuilding industry.
