UK: Developer HUB Group has submitted plans for a 462-unit BTR project at 2 Snowhill Plaza in Birmingham.

HUB Group is working alongside investment group MARK and Metropolitan Workshop Architects on the 47-storey development, which features a mixed-use plinth with shared amenities, a commercial unit facing onto the Queensway, coworking spaces, biodiverse gardens and shared lounges.

Active frontages will be provided by commercial units at the ground level, alongside landscaping, seating and a new walkable connection route from Snow Hill Queensway to Weaman Street to improve the street scene.

Brad Burridge, senior development manager for HUB, said: “We are really pleased to have submitted plans for our second project in Birmingham which, if approved, would provide hundreds of design-led homes within a striking landmark building, as well as new green space, opening up this key part of central Birmingham. Our aim is for 2 Snowhill Plaza to provide high-quality homes in the midst of one of Birmingham’s busiest commercial districts, giving residents easy access to all that the city has to offer.”

Nick Kemp, senior architect at the Metropolitan Workshop said: “The proposed building would create a valuable new pedestrian connection between Snow Hill and Weaman Street. Our design distributes the internal and external amenity spaces across four different levels of the building to provide residents with easy access to a wide variety of communal functions.”

Between March and August 2022, five pre-application meetings took place with Birmingham City Council and several meetings with surrounding neighbours and stakeholders.
