UK: BTR developer, investor and operator PLATFORM_ has acquired a 1.8-acre riverside site in the centre of Bristol.

The company says that there are just four operational BTR developments currently in the city. PLATFORM_ will submit a planning application to Bristol council in January 2025. If consented, this will take the firm’s operational pipeline to more than 4,000 units with a combined value of £1.3 billion.

The site has been earmarked for residential development in Bristol council’s Frome Gateway Spatial Regeneration Framework. PLATFORM_ intends to include flexible employment space on the ground floor, a new riverside walk, and a pocket park in its proposals.

Stewart Knight, investment and development director at PLATFORM_, said: “We are delighted to have secured a site in Bristol as the city has been at the top of our target list for a long time. We were attracted by the combination of a strong local economy, excellent demographics and a real shortage of high quality, well-managed rental accommodation. We’re looking forward to working with the city’s planners to bring forward a planning application to deliver much needed new housing.”

The acquisition comes shortly after PLATFORM_ received planning consent for a 355-unit BTR scheme in Milton Keynes.
