UK: A 120-unit BTR tower in Preston town centre looks set to get planning approval next week.
Moor House, a hexagonal tower which would sit on the corner of Walker Street and Moor Lane overlooking the new University Sqaure, is being proposed by local company Portergate Developments (Preston) Ltd, which built the nearby £18 million Friargate Court project.
Moor House would be a part-19 storey and part-five storey building, providing 120 BTR apartments, made up of 16 one-bedroom apartments and 104 two-bedroom apartments. Portergate says it wants to create “a high-quality residential development with connectivity benefits to the local Enterprise Zones in Lancashire, anticipating future demand for housing in the core city centre”.
Members of Preston City Council’s planning commitee will make a final decision on the plans next week, with officers recommending approval. A report to the council said: “This will only encourage further investment opportunities, creating employment and prosperity within the new UCLan Hub. The brief was to create a landmark building that will make an important contribution to the regeneration of the site, masking views of the telephone exchange and contributing to the transformational works being undertaken in the area. It will support the City Centre Living Strategy initiative alongside other tall buildings being proposed within the city.”
