Ireland: Quintain Ireland has secured planning permission for a mixed-use scheme in the south Dublin suburb of Cherrywood.

The €65 million scheme will include 148 BTR apartments, a large supermarket, and other retail and commercial units, with construction due to begin next year and be completed by late 2026.

Called Cherrywood Village Centre, the plan for the south Dublin suburb has been approved by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Designed by architects Urban Agency, it will be located on a 2.7-acre site and feature a new village green.

The plans include a 2,700 square metre supermarket, eight retail units, five food and beverage outlets, three business units and 200 square metres of indoor community space. It also includes 148 one- and two-bedroom BTR apartments, and retail and residential car parking.

Ranging from three to five storeys, the scheme will feature outdoor public, private, and communal residential open spaces.

The approval comes with a number of conditions, including financial contributions from the developer of €4.2 million for various local services and infrastructure, including a contribution of at least €487,000 towards the cost of the nearby Luas line.

The scheme is the first of several planned urban villages to be delivered as part of the Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) planning scheme.

Michael Hynes, co-managing director of Quintain Ireland, said: “The new Cherrywood Village Centre is a much-needed development and we are delighted to have received planning permission. It will be a fantastic setting for residents to meet, shop, relax and spend time outdoors.”
