UK: The final phase of Moda’s build-to-rent (BTR) development, The McEwan in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh, has reached practical completion.

Delivered by Robertson Construction Central East, the latest phase adds 139 homes to the 337 one to three-bedroom apartments completed in 2022.

The McEwan includes resident lounges, a private dining room, cinema, co-working spaces, roof terraces, and a 24/7 gym.

The first phase previously became the first residential building in Europe to receive a three-star Fitwel accreditation.

Robertson adopted a fabric-first approach with high-performance insulation, glazing, and modern heating systems, while using three layers of specialist screeding to improve insulation and reduce impact noise.

All earth and raw material from the site were reused or repurposed, diverting 100 per cent of waste from landfill.

The construction contributed £32.8 million in social, local, and economic value, including nearly £18 million spent with local supply chain partners, 93 per cent of which were micro, small, or medium enterprises.

The project employed 243 local people and delivered 419 weeks of apprenticeships.

The project was delivered in partnership with Apache Capital, Harrison Street, and NFU Mutual.
