UK: Watkin Jones has practically completed on the final part of a BTR development in Ravensbourne Place in Lewisham, south-east London.

The development was delivered by Watkin Jones on behalf of Legal & General as part of a larger 322-unit project. The final block comprises 184 units. The phased completion follows the handover of 138 units in September 2023.

The site is built on a former Tesco carpark and provides a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for rent, spread over 35 floors. Amenities include a library, private dining room, games room and cinema, in addition to landscaped gardens.

Supporting the group’s Future Foundations ESG strategy, this development incorporates technology and engineering to target reduced emissions, supporting Watkin Jones’ sustainability objectives. This includes the implementation of air source heat pump heating for the hot water system, eliminating the need for gas usage. There is a charging infrastructure for electric cars and ample bicycle storage for residents, supporting sustainable local transport and helping the development to achieve a Home Quality Mark (‘HQM’) 3.5 star rating.

Richard Harris, managing director – group delivery at Watkin Jones, said: “We are thrilled to practically complete and hand over the final block, Block 1, of the Ravensbourne Place BTR development to our client, L&G. This is our second development completed alongside the highly regarded asset manager. This new development helps to tackle the local housing shortage in South East London and together with L&G, we have built sustainable rental homes, offering residents long term value.”
