UK: Developer and operator Kosy Living has been granted planning consent for the first coliving scheme in Bath.

The scheme has a GDV of £30 million and will consist of 77 coliving studios with en-suite facilities and kitchenettes, as well as large communal kitchens, dining areas, lounges, a gym, wellness and health suites, roof terrace and coworking spaces. Residents will also benefit from a full-time manager and support staff on site, 24 hours a day.

The brownfield scheme will replace a row of industrial units, and there will be provision for disabled parking and allocated spaces for the attached commercial units. Two commercial units on the ground floor of the building will be offered to the tenants of the current building it would replace.

Residents and visitors will also benefit from a car club and cycle storage. Residents will pay a single monthly payment to include all utilities, council tax, cleaning, Wi-Fi, gym and use of the coworking spaces. Kosy Living will offer a minimum 12-month tenancy.

The development will have a BREEAM Excellent rating with solar panels, heat pumps and green roofs. Kosy Living has agreed a £1.1 million affordable housing contribution.

Paul Brundell, CEO of Kosy Living, said: “Being the first co-living scheme in Bath, a UNESCO world heritage city, was a proud moment for Kosy Living. This was testament to the Kosy Living team and our Kosy Design Team who designed, in my opinion, an award winning building so prominent to the city centre, which will be there, I hope, for one hundred years.”
