Coliving operator Hmlet diversifies into hotels

Hmlet

Singapore: Coliving operator Hmlet has opened its debut hotel property, Owen House by Hmlet, in Little India, Singapore.

Formerly known as Fortuna Hotel, Owen House by Hmlet is now owned by real estate companies JMD Group and TCRE Partners. The hotel was first announced in November 2022.

Owen House offers different room sizes across nine categories, ranging from deluxe queen to a family room to a two-bedroom suite. All come with en suite bathrooms, rain showers, and dedicated working areas, whereas additional facilities such as kitchenettes and pantries are only available in select rooms.

The Pembroke and The Plaza are two communal lounges exclusive to in-house guests. These areas also provide a kitchen.

Other facilities include a boardroom suitable for eight people, and a speakeasy bar in the lobby called Sunlight and Moonshine. During the day, the F&B space operates as a cafe serving grab-and-go coffee before transitioning into a 1920s-inspired cocktail bar.

The property joins the Hmlet Boutique Collection alongside the group’s serviced apartments, Hmlet Cantonment, which launched in 2019.

In April 2022, Hmlet merged with Germany-based coliving company Habyt. At the time, the combined portfolio comprised more than 8,000 rooms across 10 countries and 20 cities. Habyt has most recently announced a merger with Common, a coliving operator in North America.
