UK: Halcyon development Partners has submitted a planning application to convert an office block in Sutton town centre into a coliving scheme
Submitted on behalf of JRL Group, the scheme will turn a vacant 12-storey office block into a 359-unit coliving asset.
The plan will repurpose the office block and raise the building to 15 floors under a major retention strategy aimed at cutting carbon emissions.
James Knight, Halcyon senior development manager, said: “The retention strategy provides a unique opportunity to reduce carbon emissions whilst bringing vibrancy and animation to an otherwise redundant site.”
With construction to start in the upcoming months, the building will also serve as the new permanent home for The Sound Lounge music venue.
Malaysian developer IJM recently acquired acquired a 50 per cent stake in JRL Group, boosting its position as a player in UK construction and development.
Halcyon and JRL are also working on Woking’s first coliving scheme.
