Indian coliving operator secures investment to expand portfolio

India: Coliving operator Truliv has entered into an equity partnership with Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited (BCCL), valuing the business at Rs 356.5 crore (£33.6 million).

The Chennai-based company, which focuses on alternate hospitality asset classes, plans to use the new capital to expand into new Indian cities, enhance its technology platforms and grow its portfolio to include holiday homes and retirement living.

Founded in 2019 by Rohit Reddy and Ranjeeth Rathod, Truliv is a subsidiary of real estate developer DRA Homes.

The company currently operates under an asset-light, built-to-suit model, offering flexible accommodation for mobile professionals, digital nomads and urban migrants.

Truliv raised USD 2.1 million (£1.6 million) in seed funding from DRA Homes and other investors before the latest strategic investment.

It currently operates in the holiday homes segment and is developing student housing, retirement communities and nature-focused accommodation.

The firm said its portfolio aims to “redefine residential experiences” through innovation, lifestyle integration and efficient use of real estate.

Truliv said it expects to generate Rs 200 crore (£18.8 million) in annual revenue within three years as it scales across India and enters new hospitality verticals.
