France: Investor, developer and operator of student housing and coliving real estate UXCO Group has acquired Ecla Lille-Lomme, a new coliving project in Lomme, northern France.

Majority owned by Brookfield, UXCO Group aims to create a coliving scheme for students and young professionals. It represents a total investment close to €92 million in partnership with funders Banque des Territoires and Societe Generale.

Ecla Lille-Lomme will comprise close to 800 beds in a mix of studios to four-bedroom apartments over three seven-floor buildings totalling 18,000 square metres. More than 2,000 square metres of common areas and residential amenities will include coworking spaces, a bar, gyms, games rooms, a recording studio, library, study rooms, shared kitchens and outdoor equipment.

The property is being designed and developed by the group’s in-house developer, Océanis Promotion in cooperation with Hurban. Situated in the Lille metropolitan area, the Ecla Lille-Lomme development is the sixth location for the Ecla concept.

Maël Aoustin, group CEO and president of the UXCO Group management board, said: “After inaugurating Europe’s largest coliving and student residence, Ecla Paris-Palaiseau, and announcing two new Ecla projects in Bordeaux and greater Geneva in 2023, this latest acquisition in Lille demonstrates our capacity to grow our portfolio of unrivaled premium and large residences in France. This is a strong milestone for UXCO Group thanks to the support of local authorities together with the attractiveness of our model, which meets the accommodation needs of new generations of students and young professionals.”
