UK: Developer Regal has secured planning consent for the redevelopment of 100 Chalk Farm Road, in Camden, north London, next to the Grade II-listed Roundhouse.
The project, part of Regal’s PBSA development division, received unanimous approval from Camden Council. It will comprise 264 student bedrooms, 30 affordable homes, nearly 11,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space, and new public realm enhancements.
The project will target BREEAM Outstanding and aims to be one of the first UK PBSA projects to be accredited WELL Platinum.
Designed in collaboration with architecture practice DSDHA, the scheme “aims to enhance the setting and appreciation of Roundhouse, including the listed building works that will repair the building’s original fabric”.
The four proposed buildings will reach 12 storeys at the highest point, with the PBSA building featuring three drum-shaped elements.
The public realm enhancements aim to improve the pedestrian experience, including the provision of a new public space adjacent to Roundhouse, general widening and improvement of the pavement outside the site, and new retail and commercial premises.
