UK: Yorkshire-based construction company Caddick Group has undergone a restructure, resulting in the company acquiring full ownership of build-to-rent (BTR) developer-operator Moda Living.

Moda was founded in 2014 as a joint venture between Caddick and property investment company Generate Land.

Johnny Caddick, co-founder of Caddick Group, has now acquired Generate Land’s shareholding in Moda.

The Brooks family – father Tony and sons Daniel and Oscar, who founded Generate Land – will remain with Moda full-time but will no longer hold positions on its board.

With Caddick becoming the sole owner of Moda Living, it will streamline land sourcing, development, construction and operation under one roof. The move is expected to strengthen Moda’s appeal to institutional partners.

The transition is also expected to see Moda bring forward schemes across its rental living portfolio, which spans multifamily, single-family housing, student accommodation and coliving.

Highlights:
  • Caddick Group has taken full ownership of Moda Living following a restructure, acquiring Generate Land’s shareholding
  • Johnny Caddick has led the buyout; Generate Land founders Tony, Daniel and Oscar Brooks remain with Moda full-time but step off the board
  • Sole ownership will integrate land sourcing, development, construction and operations, streamlining delivery
  • The move is expected to accelerate Moda’s rental living pipeline and strengthen its appeal to institutional investors
