UK: Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), the developer of the Westfield retail outlets, has signed an agreement with Ministry of Sound Group to open a mixed-use development in west London.

The Ministry Shepherd’s Bush will feature workspace, a multi-studio fitness offer and a rooftop bar and restaurant.

Ministry of Sound will take the 115,000 square feet currently occupied by a House of Fraser department store.

URW will begin construction work at the site later this year, with the property expected to open in Q1 2024.

Ministry of Sound Group chairman Lohan Presencer said: “Ministry of Sound has a long history of creating experiences that disrupt the norm and exceed all expectation, in nightclubs, music, live events, fitness and more recently workspace. We launched The Ministry Borough Road in 2018, a unique flexible workspace combining offices with co-working, meeting rooms, fitness studios, event space, a sound studio and a vibrant food and beverage offer. The first Ministry has been a huge success, reaching full occupancy within its first year, and we are very excited about our second location and this partnership with URW, where we are going bigger and bolder.”

URW UK chief operating officer, Scott Parsons, said: “We’re really excited about this partnership with Ministry of Sound at Westfield London, adding yet another vibrant and innovative offer to one of London’s greatest destinations.”

The Ministry Shepherd’s Bush follows the opening of The Ministry Borough Road, in south London. It is the latest venture from global entertainment and hospitality brand Ministry of Sound, which opened the doors of its eponymous south London nightclub in 1991 and is now “the world’s largest independent music company as well a multimedia, events and experiential business”.

The Ministry signing joins a number of workspaces at URW centres and developments globally.
