US: German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has partnered with real estate firm JDS Development Group to build a 67-storey mixed-use tower in Miami.
Located at 1 Southside Park in the Brickell neighbourhood of the city, Mercedes-Benz Places will feature 791 residences, a 174-key hotel, 20,000 square-feet of office space, health and wellness facilities, retail shops, and on-site parking.
JDS will work in collaboration with SHoP Architects to ensure the structure of the project aligns with the “sensual purity” design philosophy of Mercedes-Benz. Urban landscape designers Field Operations will also reimagine Southside Park.
Construction of Mercedes-Benz Places has already begun with initial occupancy set for 2027. Sales will be managed by SERHANT.
“It is a privilege to work with Mercedes-Benz and move beyond a traditional residential building to create a new community for the future,” said Michael Stern, founder and CEO of JDS Development Group. “Underpinned by sustainable building methods and design, Mercedes-Benz Places in Miami will create a legacy not just for Brickell but for Florida as a whole.”
Eva Wiese, head of Mercedes-Benz customer solutions GmbH, added: “Our branded real-estate venture in Miami embodies the strategy behind Mercedes-Benz Places. We want to develop exclusive residences with our partner that are undeniably Mercedes-Benz and create a new mode of urban living with vibrant communities. Ultimately, we want to create places to come home to in a location worth living in.”
The development marks the first branded real-estate project for Mercedes-Benz in the United States. The company recently revealed its debut branded residence project in Dubai.
In 2015, Frasers Hospitality launched six serviced apartments in London in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Style, the manufacturer’s product design division. The pilot, dubbed Mercedes-Benz Living, saw a further nine apartments launch at the beginning of 2016 in Singapore. The units were designed in cooperation with JOI-Design.
