UK: Tide Developments has been granted planning permission by Ealing Council’s Planning Committee for a new PBSA scheme in Southall, west London.
Designed by Formation Architects, the development will comprise 424 beds across a 23-storey tower. The site had previously been granted permission to deliver 95 residential apartments across three blocks reaching 23, 19 and 14 storeys respectively, however, these will no longer go ahead.
The student rooms will include private ensuite bathrooms with shower and toilet, kitchenette, desk with IT and high speed broadband connectivity, wardrobe and storage space. Occupation is limited to a single person.
The development will be car free and have 329 cycle parking spaces. Communal indoor and outdoor amenity space is proposed at ground, first and second floor levels.
The application site is approximately 0.13 ha and contains two vacant, former commercial buildings in poor physical condition fronting The Green and a small office building set back from the road with an area of hardstanding to the rear accessed off Hortus Road.
Demolition of the current site is expected to take place by April 2025, with the development completed for the start of the 2026 academic year.
