UK: The former home of surgeon Joseph Lister in Edinburgh has been converted into a coworking space in the heart of Edinburgh.
Lister Place offers coworking spaces in the B-listed building on Rutland Street, which had been empty for many years and fell into a state of disrepair. It was bought by AnywhereWorks in 2016, and renovated by commercial interior designers Splintr. It now offers six different meeting rooms.
AnywhereWorks chief growth officer Fraser Wilson said: “Modern businesses require flexibility, and while the working anywhere revolution has empowered teams to embrace flexibility as an essential part of their operations, there’s still real value in connecting in person. With reference to Joseph Lister, one of the great historic pioneers, Lister Place points to the future of business; a unique space designed to spark creativity and enable a new level of collaboration.”
Clients can book either a full or half day, with an option for shared working in the lobby area.
Lister Place also offers membership options for recurring bookings, either weekly or monthly. This includes extended office hours and a registered business address.
Lister was a pioneer of antiseptic surgery and preventive healthcare. His research into bacteriology and infection in wounds revolutionised surgery throughout the world.
