UK: Vita Group has unveiled proposals for a new purpose-built student accommodation [PBSA] development scheme at First Street in Manchester.
As part of the project, which would come under the company’s Vita Student brand, up to 750 studio apartments would be built, along with social and study spaces, as well as a state-of-the-art gym. An on-site operations team would also be on hand to assist with providing daily events, housekeeping and security.
The project would be the second Vita Student development at the First Street site since the first development opened ten years ago.
It is hoped that the PBSA scheme would alleviate the existing pressures on local housing stock and open up more accommodation options in Manchester city centre for students at the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University nearby.
Vita Group chief operating officer Max Bielby said: “We’re excited by the prospect of expanding our Vita Student offering at First Street and look forward to meeting local residents and the wider city to talk through our proposal. We understand the growing demand for student accommodation in this area of the city and the appeal it has to both students at the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.”
Vita Group will host a consultation event to discuss plans for the new development on 23 July at Vita Student First Street. Local residents and interested parties are both invited to share their ideas for the redevelopment.
