UK: Concrete cores have reached full height at Weavers’ Hall, the first purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) certified as Passivhaus in Belfast.
Delivered by GRAHAM on behalf of Queen’s University Belfast, Weavers’ Hall will be the city’s first Passivhaus-certified purpose-built student accommodation.
Rising 16 storeys and providing 459 student bedrooms, the development on Dublin road, will offer a mix of cluster apartments and studios alongside communal lounges, study spaces, dining areas, and a dedicated party room.
Built with energy efficiency, Weavers’ Hall incorporates MVHR units, high-efficiency air source heat pumps, high-spec insulation, airtight fabric, triple glazing, and 100 per cent renewable energy for heating and hot water, significantly reducing carbon emissions while ensuring high indoor air quality and comfort.
Gary Holmes, regional managing director for GRAHAM building north, said: “Reaching this milestone marks significant progress on a development that will help set a new standard for student accommodation in Belfast.”
Professor Sir Ian Greer, president and vice-chancellor at Queen’s University Belfast, said: “Weavers’ Hall represents our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility with student experience at its heart while also strengthening our presence in Belfast city centre.”
Weavers’ Hall is scheduled for completion in 2026.
