Spain: DWS has acquired Palm Studios, a student asset in Seville, from La Salle Investment Management, marking the asset manager’s first purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) investment in Spain.
The property was opened three years ago and comprises 544 beds with all rooms fully equipped with private kitchens, while premium units also include private terraces — a distinct feature in the Spanish student accommodation market. Additionally, the property offers communal amenities including study rooms, co-working spaces, a gym, café, private dining room, games room, cinema, outdoor swimming pool, rooftop terrace and 111 parking spaces.
The building also holds a BREEAM Excellent certification, which is a high-level sustainability rating.
Seville is one of Spain’s leading student accommodating markets, behind Madrid and Barcelona. Palm Studios is located near the Reina Mercedes campus of the University of Seville, which has more than 22,700 students. In total, there are more than 66,000 students from different higher education institutions within the property’s 30-minute radius.
“We are adding to our portfolio a leading asset in one of Seville’s most established university locations, combining high standards of quality and sustainability with a differentiated residential offering,” said Manuel Ibáñez, head of real estate at DWS in Spain.
He added, “We are confident that the strong fundamentals of the PBSA market, underpinned by structurally growing demand and still-limited availability of high-quality accommodation, will continue to generate long-term investment opportunities. Spain remains a priority market for DWS in Europe, and we will continue to assess opportunities across the different Living segments and investment strategies.”
In addition to PBSA, DWS will also be exploring opportunities in senior living, flex living and build-to-rent, with a focus on markets facing structural supply shortages.
