UK: Exeter university has revealed plans for the development of the Clydesdale Nash and Birks Grange Village Halls of Residence site off Stocker Road.
Detailed plans for a large PBSA development on Streatham Campus have been submitted. The University’s plans for the development of the Clydesdale, Nash and Birks Grange Village Halls of Residence site off Stocker Road, which could potentially deliver an additional 1,250 bedrooms, were overwhelmingly supported by Exeter City Council’s planning committee in 2021.
The West Park Project is now proposing to convert all bedrooms in Birks Grange Village A-E from new and refurbished catered to self-catered flats. The project will replace ‘Birks Grange Central’ which includes the refectory, with new self-catered accommodation and social space for students.
A statement with the application said: “The existing accommodation buildings in the Clydesdale area are outdated and do not meet the standards that students expect. Developing the existing accommodation buildings allows the University to make the best use of the space and ensure we are efficient in terms of energy use. The proposed scheme fully complies with the outline consent and represents an important and high-quality development which will enhance the student accommodation offered by the University.”
