UK: The redevelopment of Bromley Town Hall in south London has been granted planning permission for a mixed-use scheme, with a scheduled opening for May 2022.

Plans for the Grade II-listed building, formerly a court house, includes offices, a members lounge, bar, restaurant and hotel.

The renovation is expected to cost £20 million. As part of the project, the building will be enlarged to offer 73,000 square feet of serviced offices and a 24-bedroom boutique hotel.

Architects Cartwright Pickard will oversee the repurposing on behalf of Castleforge Partners, a UK-based private real estate investor. Under Castleforge’s coworking brand Clockwise, office tenants will be able to rent a private office or dedicated desk, or sign up to a club membership.

Henry Webber of Castleforge Partners said: “The introduction of Clockwise, our serviced office business, into the building represents our long term commitment to the area. By offering a diverse mix of well designed coworking and private spaces Clockwise will be able to accommodate a wide variety of occupier needs by providing workspace that is not only appealing and welcoming for businesses of all sizes but also practical and efficient.”

Fusion Interiors Group will lead the design of the project. The style is said to be inspired by David Bowie and Charles Darwin who used to live in the area.

The building has been empty since 2007. Planning process to convert the property first began in 2015 and now that permission has been granted, the project is scheduled to debut in May next year.
