UK: Audley Group has appointed former easyHotel chief financial officer Gary Burton as its CFO.

He joins with immediate effect and would work with outgoing CFO Jon Austen “to ensure a smooth transition”.

Burton has 22 years experience at large organisations, including FTSE100 retailer Kingfisher.

Audley said his experience in both the hospitality and health sectors would prove “invaluable” to the group.

“Gary is an exceptional hire for Audley Group, and we are thrilled to have him join our board” said Audley Group chief operating officer Nick Edwards. “The retirement living sector is ripe for reform and Audley Group is poised to lead the way with not only a sustainable but also a desirable solution for the UK’s ageing population. Harnessing the demand for independent living in later life along with a flexible care and wellbeing offering underpins the successful Audley model and Gary’s broader insights into the health and wellbeing sectors will be of huge value to our business as we develop our offering. I look forward to working with him as an integral part of our future.”

Burton said: “Audley is a business that I have watched and admired from afar for a long time so I’m delighted to be joining at such a strategically important time. Providing accommodation options that enable older people to move out of their family home and into purposefully designed communities is, at the current time especially, exactly what the country needs, so the growth trajectory for the business is genuinely exciting. There is growing evidence to support the claim that people living in retirement villages stay healthier for longer and lead more active lives. I look forward to playing my part in ensuring Audley remains at the forefront of that much needed revolution.”
