UK: Macquarie’s UK BTR platform Goodstone Living has secured planning permission from The City of Edinburgh Council for the expansion of its Dockside scheme in Leith.

The expansion includes the number of homes to be increased from 338 to 373 in order to include additional family and affordable housing.

The green amenity space within the public realm will nearly double – from approximately 1,900 to approximately 3,800 square metres, along with privision for additional bicycle storage.

Construction at the Dockside development started in May. Contractor McAleer & Rushe is expected to complete the project in July 2025.

The 2.5 acre waterfront development will deliver 373 rental homes across four buildings from 10 to 14 storeys. Amenities include a rooftop lounge and dining, coworking areas and a fitness centre. The ground floor includes two commercial units that will be offered at discounted rents to local businesses.

Lee Hawkins, construction director at Goodstone Living, said: “This consent provides us with the opportunity to make significant value-add enhancements to Dockside, specifically in respect of its sustainability credentials and the offer to the local community through public realm improvements. It will also enable us to widen our prospective tenant base here in Edinburgh, where there is a real need for high-quality rental housing across a wide range of age groups and income profiles.”
