Belgium: Flexible workspace operator Clockwise has signed its first independent management agreement with real estate fund Patrizia, for The Louise, Brussels.
This is the first step in line with Clockwise’s plan to grow by diversifying its partners, and helping landlords “revitalise their amenity spaces, provide hospitable work environments and champion flexible spaces for the wider business community”. Clockwise will operate nearly 3,350 square metres of space in The Louise building in Brussels, with a planned opening in Summer 2025.
The new space is situated at 149 Avenue Louise, near the Palace of Justice, the flagship stores of luxury brands and five star hotels, BEL20 companies and leading law firms. The opening marks the second property for Clockwise in the city, and the 18th opening for the brand since its inception in 2017.
The first Clockwise building in Brussels opened in 2022, “quickly reaching mature occupancy and featuring a dynamic member mix of large international corporates and emerging start-ups”. More recently the brand opened in Antwerp in June.
Alexandra Livesey, chief operating officer at Clockwise, said: “We’ve seen great success in Brussels already, and the newly opened Clockwise Antwerp has also been well received. We know there’s increased opportunity in Belgium which is why we are confident in boosting our brand footprint in this fantastic country. Our new strategy, to forge partnerships with other landlords, is integral to fulfilling the potential of Clockwise. I am excited to work with Mark Dansky as the recently appointed head of acquisition, to deliver this ambition.”
The new Clockwise workspace in Brussels is set across two floors and will house more than 300 desks within private offices, dedicated desks, a club lounge and bookable meeting rooms.
The Louise building is focused on sustainability, wellbeing, and technology, which directly ties into Clockwise’s core pillars and objectives. The wider building enables and celebrates an eco-conscious commute, boasting 190 bike spaces including bike charging areas, and there are electric vehicle charging facilities on site. The building itself also holds BREEAM Excellent rating – a holistic sustainability assessment framework for buildings and infrastructure that measures sustainable value.
Members of Clockwise Brussels will also have access to gardens and terraces on the ground, first, fifth and seventh floors. A range of F&B offerings are also planned within the building.
Clockwise has also recently announced a new route for property acquirement that complements the brand’s existing strategy. Originally existing as an owner-operator business by real estate investors Castleforge, the brand is now also working with external landlords on management agreements and independent leases, with the intention of reducing overheads and turbo-charging progress. The opening in The Louise marks the first independent management agreement for the brand and a blueprint for future endeavours.
