UK: Heim Global Investor’s UK Residential Fund has acquired a 128-apartment new-build development in Poplar, east London, from Taylor Wimpey.
This acquisition marks a significant step in Heim’s strategy to expand its portfolio of rental homes for median income earners in key urban centres.
Located in an area undergoing extensive regeneration, the project will be delivered under a forward-funding structure with Taylor Wimpey, with completion expected in 2027.
This timeline aligns with a forecasted period of acute undersupply in London’s residential market, as construction starts remain at historic lows.
The investment supports the Fund’s objective of delivering 5,000 high-quality rental homes across the UK’s major cities.
To date, Heim has raised £375 million in equity from UK pension schemes towards its £800 million target.
David Peacock, director at Heim Global Investors, said: “Poplar represents exactly the kind of opportunity we are targeting – well-located, regeneration-led, and capable of delivering high-quality rental homes for median income earners. The transaction is well-aligned with the Fund’s strategy, and we are pleased to be partnering with Taylor Wimpey to deliver this scheme at a time of very low supply.”
