UK: Development finance lender Atelier has completed a £21.7 million for the development of a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) block in Birmingham.

The funding has been provided to Study Inn Group, a developer and operator of serviced student accommodation.

The 203-bed scheme in Edgbaston is the group’s 18th project and will be completed by its in-house development arm for the 2027/28 academic year.

Marcus Hook, group finance director at Study Inn, said: “This was our first transaction with the Atelier team and we were impressed by their highly competitive terms, proactive approach and clear communication throughout. Their ability to move quickly and provide certainty of execution was important in enabling us to complete the site acquisition and commence development within our required timeframe.”

Rav Kudhail, lending director at Atelier, added: “We are pleased to be supporting Study Inn on this scheme, marking the start of a new client relationship with an award-winning PBSA developer and operator known for its focus on wellbeing and student satisfaction. The project will deliver high-quality student accommodation within the highly sought-after Calthorpe Estate in Birmingham and aligns well with our focus on backing proven PBSA developers and operators in strong locations.”
