UK: Far East Orchard’s 239-bed purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development at Plymouth Grove, Manchester, has received Gateway 2 approval.
The development is scheduled for completion in 2028, and will be operated by Homes for Students (HFS), a subsidiary of Far East Orchard (FEOR).
The 275-year leasehold site was acquired in April 2025 for £10.9 million, marking FEOR’s first PBSA project in Manchester.
Delivery partners for the scheme include DML Group, HG Construction and Woh Hup.
FEOR said: “Undertaken through the Far East UK Student Accommodation Development Fund (FESAD), this development marks another step forward for our UK PBSA development pipeline. This achievement is made possible after months of meticulous planning, coordination, and rigorous collaboration working with our delivery partners DML Group Ltd, HG Construction, Woh Hup Group. Achieving this milestone confirms that the project has secured the necessary approvals and contractual commitments to proceed to the next phase. Construction works will commence shortly and the development is expected to complete in 2028, in time for 2028/29 academic year.”

FESAD’s first project is the Osborne Street development in Glasgow, which topped out in April.
