UK: Caddick Construction has celebrated the topping out of Melbury Court, a 232-bed PBSA development off Old Dryburn Way in Durham.

The £25 million scheme is being delivered for Whitesmocks Limited.

Representatives from Caddick, Whitesmocks and the project’s supply chain gathered to mark the building reaching its highest point.

The scheme, which is scheduled to welcome its first students for the 2027/28 academic year, will provide purpose-built accommodation alongside new landscaping.

Caddick Construction was awarded the design-and-build contract earlier this year.

Steve Ford, regional managing director at Caddick Construction North East & Yorkshire, said: “We’re proud to have achieved the first major milestone on Melbury Court. It is fantastic to see the building take shape and to celebrate this occasion with our partners and wider team, all of whom are playing a key role in the delivery of this project. Reaching the highest point of this scheme represents significant progress for the city’s purpose-built student accommodation offering and our site team is working closely with our supply chain to ensure the development is built to the highest quality, in order to provide excellent accommodation for students in Durham.”
