UK: Developer Bankfoot APAM has submitted detailed plans for a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Glasgow city centre.
The company wants to replace a highly energy-inefficient office building at 38 Cadogan Street with 259 student bedrooms across a mix of studio apartments and cluster units.
To be designed by Russ Drage Architects, the project will also deliver amenity spaces including a rooftop growing garden to support mental wellbeing and encourage interaction with nature, a dedicated cooking classroom to promote healthy eating and life skills, communal roof terrace, gym and study spaces.
Bankfoot APAM is providing development management on behalf of an overseas property fund. It held consultation events earlier this year following the submission of a Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN).
Chris Moore, managing director at Bankfoot APAM, said: “We’re delighted to have reached this important milestone in the delivery of high-quality student accommodation for Glasgow. The city continues to see strong and sustained demand for purpose-built student housing, and our proposals at Cadogan Street aim to meet that need with a forward-thinking, wellness-led approach. We’re proud of the design, the public engagement process, and the emphasis on sustainable living that runs through the entire scheme.”
Subject to planning approval, the development is expected to commence on site in late 2026, with delivery targeted ahead of the 2028 academic year.
