UK: The University of Bath has launched early market engagement on a project to build nearly 1,000 new student rooms on its main campus.

A preliminary market engagement notice published on May 9 said the university is seeking input from potential bidders before launching procurement for the R7 Student Accommodation Capital Works project.

The scheme is expected to involve construction of around 960 bedrooms, plus associated ancillary areas, aimed at providing high-quality housing for undergraduate students.

According to the prior information notice, the scheme is intended to match the standard of competitor developments and support the university’s goal of delivering a “healthy, safe, sustainable and inclusive” campus. The new facilities will increase the availability of on-campus accommodation for first-year students.

The university has not yet confirmed the procurement route or contract type but has indicated it is open to input from prospective bidders before finalising the approach.

The contract is expected to run from April 2026 until October 2028.
