UK: The 311-unit Bridle Path coliving scheme in Watford has been given the green light by local planners.
The development will redevelop a vacant and derelict workshop to the north of the site and open new public realm. This will activate and provide natural surveillance on three sides of Bridle Path. The development will count towards Watford’s housing supply to the equivalent of 172 dwellings, helping Watford Borough Council meet their housing need. Councillor Sohil Bashir thanked Kosy Living “for bringing this scheme to Watford”, and said that the studios were “very much welcomed” for the town. Councillor Watkins also praised the development, stating: “I think this will actually provide a whole new opportunity for young people who can’t afford otherwise to live in the borough to have a stable base with a community.”
Bridle Path was specifically chosen for its location, being close to local amenities, shops, restaurants and Watford Junction Station. Residents will have full access to the coworking facilities, designed to suit a variety of professions from laptop-based workers to freelancers, digital creatives and artists.
Residents get to enjoy their privacy and serenity in their own beautiful, modern and fully-furnished studio with an en-suite shower room and kitchenette. The studios feature en-suite shower rooms and kitchenettes, with a fold-away bed and moveable furniture. Studios are 24 square metres in size and offer nine cubic metres of storage, which the developer says is more storage than an average two-bedroom apartment. Every studio also has access to a shared kitchen and living area.
Roof gardens and courtyards offer ‘Zen zones’ and BBQ areas, while a roof terrace with views of the city, will feature covered seating areas and flexible areas for events and activities.
Other features and amenities include 24/7 staff, access to personal trainers, doctors, and mental health wellbeing and support. Residents will be encouraged, via an app, to participate in running clubs, hiking groups and book clubs.
Paul Brundell, CEO at Kosy Living, said: “Fantastic news, another win for Kosy Living and we continue to have 100 per cent success rate in achieving quality coliving planning consents in sustainable locations in London and key regional towns and cities. We are actively seeking funding options to continue our successful journey.”
