UK: David Montague, the former chief executive of housing association L&Q, has been appointed chair of later living developer Inspired Villages.
Montague led housing association giant L&Q from 2008 to 2021. He has also been chair of the G15 group of London’s leading housing associations, and served on the board of the National Housing Federation. In 2013, Montague was awarded a CBE for services to housing in London.
His appointment as chair follows Natwest Pension Trustee Limited buying a remaining 50 per cent stake in Inspired Villages from Legal & General last month to become the sole owner.
Inspired Villages manages 11 integrated retirement villages (IRV), housing more than 1,300 residents. In its most recently filed accounts it reported turnover of £17 million in the year to 31 December 2023 and a profit of £191,000. It has plans to build 5,100 homes over 15 years.
Montague said: “Retirement communities have such a significant role to play in a diverse and prosperous housing market, so it’s great to be part of a business that supports the provision older people’s housing in such a transformative way.”
Nick Edwards, chief executive of Inspired Villages said: “His [Montague’s] wealth of experience makes him a fantastic addition, and his strategic insight will be invaluable to our board and executive committee as we enter our next chapter.”
