UK: Developers SFGE Properties and Oppidan Life have secured planning approval for a 40-storey coliving tower in Sheffield city centre.
They plan to redevelop the site of the former Primark store in the Castlegate area to create around 430 coliving units.
Designed by architect Hodder + Partners, the £40 million Kings Tower scheme involves the demolition of the vacant shopping store at 57 High Street.
SFGE hopes to start work this summer on the project which will become the city’s tallest building.
The project will include one four-bedroom cluster, 37 five-bedroom clusters, 37 six-bedroom clusters, one seven-bedroom cluster and one 10-bedroom cluster.
The building will be clad in white brick-slips at the lower levels, with portland stone fluted columns for the higher floors.
Kings Tower will sit alongside phase 1 of the redevelopment of Kings Buildings, which comprises 26,000 square feet of new retail and leisure space and the 131-bed easyHotel.
