UK: Developer Glenbrook Property has completed a 500-unit build-to-rent (BTR) scheme at Whitehall Riverside in Leeds with funding from Legal and General(L&G).
Glenbrook’s project, called TURA, is composed of two towers of 19 and 16 storeys. One- to three-bedroom units are offered, with 25 flats made available at a discount.
Amenities include residents’ lounges and roof terraces, shared workspace and a gym. Landscaping and public realm improvements have been made at the site along River Aire in the form of open green space and upgraded pedestrian and cycle routes.
Constructed by Bowmer & Kirkland and designed by Sheppard Robson, it received Gateway 3 approval under the Building Safety Act. TURA is part of the Whitehall Riverside masterplan, which includes office accommodations and a car park alongside residential buildings.
“The completion of TURA marks a key stage in the delivery of the Whitehall Riverside masterplan,” Glenbrook development chief Daniel Roberts said. “To be among the first new-build developments to successfully pass through the Gateway process demonstrates the professionalism and dedication of the project team in working collaboratively with the Building Safety Regulator.”
“We are delighted to have completed Tura, adding a further 500 homes to our Build to Rent portfolio in Leeds, as part of our long-term investment in the city,” L&G BTR head Adam Burney said. “Leeds is a dynamic city with a strong employment base, and this development reflects the important role that high-quality rental accommodation plays in supporting economic growth, local communities and meeting the UK’s wider housing needs.”
