UK: Lloyds Living has confirmed the appointment of Matt Burgess as its new CEO, succeeding Andy Hutchinson, who stepped down earlier this year.

Burgess, who has been serving as acting CEO since Hutchinson’s departure, steps up from his previous position as chief investment officer with immediate effect. He joined Lloyds Living in July 2021, following senior roles at JLL and over a decade in investment-focused positions at HSBC.

During his time with the business, Burgess has played a key role in expanding Lloyds Living’s portfolio to more than 7,300 homes across the UK, supporting the company’s mission to increase access to quality rental and ownership housing.

Toby Rougier, CEO of Lloyds Banking Group Investments, said: “My congratulations to Matt on his appointment as chief executive. He has been a pivotal part of Lloyds Living’s growth story to date and is perfectly positioned to lead the business through the next chapter of it.”

Burgess commented: “I am immensely proud of what we have built at Lloyds Living over the last four years and the opportunity I’ve been given to lead the next phase of its growth. Lloyds Living has gone from a start-up to a portfolio of over 7,300 homes in four years, which is a testament to the efforts of the whole team.”

The company, part of Lloyds Banking Group Investments, has grown rapidly since its launch, focusing on delivering quality, professionally managed rental homes across the UK’s urban markets. Burgess said the business has “exciting, ambitious plans” to continue expanding its housing portfolio and help more people access homeownership.
