UK: Developer Graham Investment Projects has secured planning approval for a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Glasgow, with construction set to begin later this year.
The £70 million investment will transform a disused brownfield site at 138 Hydepark Street in the Anderston area into a 25-storey student residence, delivering 236 studio apartments and 174 cluster flats.
The project aims to meet rising demand for student housing in the city and support the wider regeneration of the Anderston district.
The new development will feature rooftop terraces, social lounges, group study areas and wellness facilities, with a focus on student wellbeing and modern living.
Glasgow-based architecture practice Cooper Cromar has been appointed to design the building, while Graham Construction will lead the construction process.
The wider team includes Iceni Projects as planning consultant and Etive Engineers as structural and civil engineers.
Construction is due to begin later in 2025, with completion expected in time for the 2028 academic year.
John McDonald, managing director at Graham Investment Projects, said: “Securing planning permission for this development is a key milestone in bringing forward much-needed, high-quality student accommodation in Glasgow. Transforming a disused brownfield site into a vibrant living environment is a clear example of how targeted investment can support both education and regeneration.
“Equally, this project reflects our strong confidence in the city’s future, and we’re proud to play a role in helping to future-proof Glasgow as a global destination for education and innovation.”
