US: NeueHouse, a members-only co-working and club brand for creative industry professionals, has abruptly shuttered its locations in Hollywood, Venice Beach, and Manhattan this week.

The closures came just one month after the death of founder Joshua Abram, who passed away from cancer at the age of 62.

The company continued selling memberships in the days leading up to the shutdown, leaving members frustrated and employees without severance, as they told the Los Angeles magazine.

Many members, including those who had recently paid for annual memberships, only learned of the closures through friends or the company’s website.

NeueHouse announced it would file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, with the final day of business being September 5.

Founded as a hub for creatives, designers, and innovators, NeueHouse hosted numerous industry events for studios and agencies such as Disney, Paramount, and CAA.

A statement on NeueHouse website reads: “For over a decade, NeueHouse has served as a center of creativity, community, design and innovation where trailblazers have convened to push boundaries and discover new ideas. Our mission has always been to provide a space for creators, innovators and thought leaders to gather and connect. Thanks to you, that mission became a reality.”

The Venice location had opened in 2022, while the Hollywood location had operated since 2015 at the former CBS Radio Building on Sunset Boulevard and the NeueHouse Madison Square in New York was completed in 2013.
